What I did at the Chicago YNABC

At the Chicago Youth North American Bridge Championships, I met a lot of great people, competed, and more.

Being my third Youth North American Bridge Championships (YNABC), I wanted to do something different and continue the mission of BridgeIntoBridge. So, I decided to volunteer to help out at the 2023 Chicago YNABC.

Prior to the YNABC competition, I sorted bags and clothes for everyone that pre registered. During the competition, I answered any questions event attendees had and filled in into competition where I had too. I also competed during the last two days. I competed in Open Pairs where we placed 14th in the morning and 15th in the afternoon. In open swiss teams, we failed to qualify for the afternoon but placed 1st and 2nd overall in consolation pairs in the afternoon.

At the award ceremony, I actually won the Sportsmanship Award which came with a $1000 scholarship which I can not possibly express my full gratitude for. You can see my picture and interview here: https://cdn.acbl.org/nabc/2023/02/bulletins/db10.pdf . All in all, this year's Chicago YNABC was truly a spectaclur experience and I am looking forward to next year's YNABC.
